Stay Well

What’s Stay Well all about?

Being an adult means being responsible for so many things, often at the expense of your own self-care. While we’re busy juggling family and work commitments things like exercise and relaxation can fall by the wayside. Life is rushed, stressors can be high, then, staring in the face of middle age we suddenly realise that our own parents are aging and our role as carer has the potential to expand to include more than our own children.

Stay well aims to give you some tips and strategies to manage your health and to remind you about the simple things that you can build into your day to help improve your overall health and wellbeing. You will find healthy recipes, exercise tips, the importance of preventative health screening and where to find emotional or psychological support when you need it.

It’s hard enough to get to the doctor when you’re sick, right? Let alone for an annual health check-up when you are actually feeling good. But read on and you’ll see why it’s so important.

Have Fun, Get Physical, Eat Well and Talk to Someone

No matter what age we are – having fun, and doing the things we enjoy are enormously helpful for overall health and wellbeing, especially if they involve building and maintaining social connections. Having friends with whom you share the good and the not-so-good times, is a great way to keep things in perspective and to solve some of those daily challenges before they seem too big to manage.

You’ve probably heard that one of the cheapest and most beneficial ways to reduce stress is exercise, it’s true! Your body will feel better for it, and so will your mind. And then of course there’s the fuel you need to keep going – a balanced diet will help to ensure that you maintain a healthy weight and keep you feeling fabulous. Staying within the healthy weight range will not only help you feel good about yourself, and minimise the middle age spread, but it also helps to lower the chance of developing a whole bunch of other health issues as you grow older.
