Changing the shape of pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time of excitement and anticipation, and the perfect time to pay some special attention to the mother’s health and wellbeing.  Women who begin their pregnancy journey with a BMI that may be higher than ideal, can benefit from some additional support services throughout their pregnancy to ensure that they, and their baby remain safe and healthy.

It’s important to monitor just what is happening for each individual, and to weigh up the best approach to weight management.  This generally includes remaining active every day, eating healthy nutritious foods, as well as reducing as much emotional stress as possible.

The OPAL Clinic is based at Nepean Hospital. It provides a team approach to pregnancy along with emotional support, nutrition & physical activity advice, healthy lifestyle tips and encouragement. All management is tailored to the needs of the individual woman.

If you or someone you know is pregnant with a BMI over 45, talk to your doctor about a referral to the OPAL Clinic or call 47344533 for more information.
